Sailor Moon Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey peoples! Its time for what you have all been waiting for...my sailor moon review!
About:
This revised anniversary edition of sailormon includes updated artwork and Japanise names vs. English replacements (Usagi instead of Bunny). You can read the original Tokoyo Pop English releases on most online manga sites although some are switching to the new one. The new releases are published by Kodansha Comics and started releasing in September to continue to release on a bimonthly bias.

Plot:
Usagi Tsukino was a normal 14 year old girl until she ran into Luna, a talking cat with a crescent moon on its head. She informs Usagi she is the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Her duty is to find the other sailor scouts, the legendary silver crystal, the unknown moon princess and who the hack that hot Tuxedo Mask really is. Through her quest the mysterious enemies try to collect human energy and foil her plans. Together with the rest of the sailor scouts (and a little help from Tuxedo Mask) she kicks bad guy butt.

My opinion:
Of course I'm going to tell you to read this! Sailormoon is the original magical girl not romance focused manga. This means the girls lead! If you like Pretty Cure, Mew Mew Powers or Wedding Peach, check this out! All those mangas and many more were based on this series. Even if have the original released, buy it for the updated artwork (not that the original one wasn't already stunning). Go and buy this and join me as a fellow Moonie!

Vapmire Knight Review

Hi people. I know I promised my first post would be about Sailor moon but as you know at this time don't have the re-realised version. So for my first review I will start with my favourite current on going manga Vampire Knight.

About:

This manga is written by Matsuri Hino and was first seen in LaLa  Magazine in Japan. It is an on going series.

Plot:

The story focuses Yuki Cross. He memory begins when she was little she was attacked by a vampire but saved by Kaname Kuran, a vampire myself. Kaname put him in the care of  Kaien Cross, the head master of cross academy where there is a day and night class. The day class is for humans and the night class is for vampires. Kaname Kuran goes to this school. Later one Zero Kiryu, whos family was killed by vampires, is also adopted by Kaien Cross. In the present day Yuki is now 15 years old and has fallen in love with Kaname (you doesn't age). However, Zero also likes Yuki and particularly hates Kaname as he wants to be a vampire hunter. Yuki and Zero's job is to make sure everything flows smoothly between the day and night class. No humans, except for those two, know that the day class are made up of vampires. In short, all three characters have a deep past and dark secrets which unfold as Zero and Kaname fight over who gets the girl.
Important Stuff to Know:
Blood Tablets: Tablets mixed with water to make "blood" . This stops the vampires  from eating the students. Although its the same nutrition as blood, they don't taste nearly as good as real blood. Vampires can also drink blood from other vampires.

Setting: This story takes place ten thousand years after global warming. Vampires are a new species evolved from humans that adapted to the changes. There are more humans then vampires but their numbers are slowly sinking. In order to keep the vampires at bay, people professionally hunt and kill them. Despite all this, the world is not futuristic and looks just like ours.

Types of  Vampire levels:

Level A: Pure blood vampires. In this story vampires can have babies. A pure blood vampire is the child of a vampire that those not have a single drop of human blood in them. This means that their ancestors evolved from humans to vampires. A human can become a vampire if a pure blood bites them and leaves him/her alive (only level A that can do this). This means they still carry human blood in their bodies.  There are very few of these vampires;Kaname Kuran is one of them.

Level B: Vampires who have a mix of human and vampire blood in them.Their decedents are those who evolved from human to vampire  and those who have been bitten. They are usually the children of two mixed blood vampires. The can be, however, in theory be the the children of a bitten  and a pure blood vampire. Level B vampires will often try to marry level A vampires although pure bloods like to keep their blood line untouched.

Level C: Bitten vampires who have attained the blood of those who bit them and are there for normal and mentally sane.

Level D: Bitten vampires who have not attained the blood of those who bit them but still stay mentally sane through will power.

Level E: Bitten vampires who have gone crazy in blood lust. This is because in order to became a level C vampire you must drink the blood of who bit you or otherwise become a serial killer.
My Opinion:
My first thought about Vampire Knight was that it was just like twilight! Two guys fighting over a girl that just can't decide where her loyalty lies. Being with one is forbidden and the other just isn't as desirable. However, after Yuki  chooses between Kaname  and Zero the story takes on a life of its own. Basically events from each of the character's past is coming back to haunt them. The story is lighted up with laughs. The art is beautiful however sometimes you may get confused about who's who. Progression in the story is slow and suspenseful which I happen to enjoy.
Over all rating: 4.5/5

Sailor moon is Back!

Sailor moon was a shoujo manga originally published in 1992 by Naoko Takeuchi since then it has been copied and its formula has been used in a countless number of shoujo mangas. Its republication has long been awaited in Japan, North America and Italy. Back in its time a modified  version of the Anime played along side Dragon Ball-Z. This is what I personally fell in love with has a five year old. However, because they were editing something that was meant for a 14+  demographic into something for all ages, the fifth installment , Sailor Stars, could not be published  because the content could not be made into something for all ages. After the Anime stopped the manga and merchandise left with it. After a long wait however the manga was being released first in Japan, then Italy and now North America. The complete twelve volumes will be released bimonthly. The first issue was released September 13. The next issue is coming November 15. Although I was planning to do a full review of Sailor Moon in this blog post, it has come to my attention that that I should be reviewing the released issue and not my old one as the art work as been redone and there is better translation. I will pick it up ASAP and write a review. Until then follow this link to Chapters to buy an edition:http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Sailor-Moon-1-Naoko-Takeuchi/9781935429746-item.html?ikwid=sailor+moon&ikwsec=Home

Manga Freak's Shōjo Manga Reviews!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello random people of the Internet (and my teacher)!!!!!!!!  Well I had to create a blog for a school project and this is it. Its focus manga reviews. To be more specific shoujo manga.

Here some information encase you are unfamiliar with the subject. You may notice shoujo is spelled shōjo for the title of  my blog. Shōjo, shojo or shoujo all refer to the type of manga intended for girls who are  7-18 years of age. Due to the huge age gap, the content of shoujo can range from a child's picture book to a long novel. You must be careful what you read. For example, lets say twilight was originally a manga. Manga is like a comic book. That means parts of the book usually left to the imagination of the reader are pictured. Twilight. It could still be okay for a twelve year old to read but it could also easily be turned into a shoujo manga for 17 year olds depending  on how those "certain scenes" are depicted. You may find a manga  that means okay at first but it may become inappropriate as characters develop.

So that's the ins and outs of shoujo manga! My next post will review the "Mother of all Shoujo" Sailor Moon (pictured above ). You also may notice the picture of Vampire Knight (review coming soon), my current favorite on going manga. Until then, happy reading!
